Artist Statement

Relishing a tactile delight in materials and process, my work explores the idea and experience of relationship. Relationships shared by human beings, and how the practice of relating brings us together and pushes us apart. Relationship with stories; the ones we tell ourselves personally, and those that help us find meaning collectively. Relationships as a way to cultivate connection with the world beyond our human selves and the magnificent, yet restricting sphere created by the mind. And an artist's relationship with the process of making; the movement of mind through the diaphanous brume of inspiration, the corporeal pleasure of body meeting media, and how creating in ways that invite synchronicity permit alliance between artist and Mystery, allowing the work to surpass the limits of personal vision. In this way, my process of creation is as much about making space and listening, as taking action.
